We consult and challenge trivago to make informed decisions by generating business insights from billions of rows of data daily and applying cutting-edge analytics. We’re seeking an outstanding and innovative mind. Someone, who is an expert in the field of Algorithms and Machine Learning and has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Your tasks:

Analyse and consult on the design, implementation and evaluation of our algorithms, for example the hotel ranking algorithm.
Continuously seek to improve our processes by challenging our methods and implementing your own innovative techniques. We promote thinking outside the box!
Keep up-to-date on cutting-edge algorithms in this fast moving field, and make this knowledge and experience applicable and useful to trivago.
Use your R or Python expertise to implement statistical programming and machine learning algorithms and measure performance.
At trivago we base our business around the Power of Proof which means we have a data-driven approach to everything we do. You will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our databases (Hadoop and SQL) by developing and maintaining appropriate control processes.

Your profile:

You’ve always been an over-achiever and have completed a Masters in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field. If pursuing a Masters didn’t interest you then you must have at least 1-2 years work experience in Algorithm Development, Data Analytics or equally relevant sphere.
You are an expert in Machine Learning and are a master of R or Python.
You have a genuine interest in databases and get excited at the prospect of being let loose to play in a terabyte data environment. If you have taken part in Kaggle, Data Mining Cup, or other data focused competitions please let us know!
You are a fanatic learner who is eager to learn about the newest developments and methods in your field. On this note, you are self-taught in specific areas of interest that your education may have only touched on, Hadoop or SQL for example.
You have inquisitive mind that craves the freedom to experiment and test new ideas and methods.
You are an extremely motivated individual who can be trusted to work independently.
