Senior Research Associate - People Analytics

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a people analytics professional to join its Human Capital Analytics and Products (HCAP) team. Members of HCAP are curators of employee data and leverage it to help answer strategic and operational talent questions for leaders across the business. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll independently manage long-term talent research projects and leverage our robust data infrastructure to provide analyses that enable the firm’s senior business leaders to make data-informed decisions about their people. You’ll build on our past innovation by working with cross-functional teams to propose and bring to fruition creative approaches to answering talent questions.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• A bachelor’s degree or higher and at least five years of relevant work experience analyzing data in a business setting are required.
• Familiarity with statistics, especially within a social science setting, and analytical tools such as Excel, R/Python, and SQL are essential.
• Those who enjoy managing complex analytics projects involving technical and non-technical stakeholder groups will excel in this role. This team member should be curious and adept at socializing and implementing novel, data-driven approaches to business problems.
• The ability to package insights from data, weave them together into a compelling narrative, and develop visually pleasing analytical products for an executive audience is key.
• A willingness to readily dive into details, collaborate effectively, and exercise discretion with confidential information is essential.
• The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $250,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
