This permanent position features a 2/2 teaching load—the same as tenure-track faculty at Tulane. The Professor of Practice will teach DATA 1010: Introduction to Data, an accessible course covering fundamental skills in data literacy, analysis, communication, and ethics. You'll also develop and teach one to two additional multi-disciplinary courses in your areas of expertise.
Beyond teaching, you'll develop and facilitate CAIDS programming to increase faculty and student participation across all data fields. Service roles may include coordinating internship programs, leading workshops and data-thons, advising student groups, fostering community partnerships, or supporting interdisciplinary research groups.
While research is not required, data-related scholarship can be incorporated into your workload—a unique feature distinguishing this from typical Professor of Practice positions. Contract renewals occur every three to five years based on teaching, service, and research evaluation.
