Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer

Wade & Wendy

Job Description

About Wade & Wendy

Wade & Wendy is a newly funded, VC backed company that’s bringing artificial intelligence / machine learning to the recruiting / HR space with the mission of making the process more human for both applicants and hiring managers.

Our company is named after our two artificially intelligent personalities: Wade and Wendy. Wade helps applicants discover meaningful and relevant opportunities. Wendy assists hiring managers with filling open roles. Designed for the most frictionless experience, Wade and Wendy exist on popular messaging platforms; all interactions take place through chat.

We are a young startup, but we’re moving very quickly and generating significant traction. On the product side, we are looking for an experienced full-stack engineer to support the development of our forthcoming platforms and web applications.

The Role

As part of the early engineering team, you’ll be instrumental in developing and growing the infrastructure powering our intelligence engine, messaging infrastructure and data analytics pipeline. Working in a highly interdisciplinary environment, you will conceptualize new product features with designers, productionize modules from data scientists, and discuss architecture with other engineers.

You should have extensive experience in shipping production-grade code. You’ve developed deep expertise in certain languages and frameworks, but you’ve also proven the ability to quickly learn new ones. While you have a strong nose for “code smell,” you’re also design-oriented and have a deep appreciation for great UX, simplicity and clean interface.

Culture is important to us, so you should be highly collaborative and confident, yet humble and empathetic.

Requirements

  • 2+ years, post-academic real-world experience bringing several public-facing production projects to completion.

  • Experience with either Go / Golang, Clojure or Python 3.x

  • Able to quickly learn and master new languages and tools as needed (and using them in a secure, modular and testable fashion)

  • Understand the tenets of TDD or BDD

  • Ability to build, thoroughly document, and unit test your own hand-made methods and packages.

  • Comfortable with modern modern graph database technologies (ie: Datomic) and more traditional SQL databases

  • Experience with DevOps, infrastructure, continuous integration

  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and empathy

  • Self awareness and a desire to improve your skills

Bonus Points

  • Academic background in computer science or mathematics (BS or MS)

  • Minimalist sentiment: you’re very choosy regarding dependencies

  • Experience with parsing data, machine learning / AI, NLP

  • Expertise with graph databases, such as Datomic or Neo4j

  • Experience in small startup environments
