  • Architect and build a cloud-based data lake for the application of machine learning and analytics, creating the pipeline architecture to optimize the data flow from numerous data systems
  • Lead the processes to prioritize data decisions for ingestion into the data lake that enable a robust environment for AI, ML, and BI solutions
  • Collaborate with a team of talented data scientists and analytical professionals developing complex data functionality to enhance our business through changing the way the business uses data to drive growth

 If you’re our next Data Engineer you will look forward to engaging in activities such as:

  • Establishing timelines, resources, and cost estimates for data lake development and creation
  • Design, integrate, and document technical components for data flows or applications that feed the data lake and use the lake to make decisions across the enterprise
  • Partner closely with DBAs, Infrastructure & Operations, and Data Scientists to identify optimal solutions and prioritization decisions by providing the right data environment for their needs
  • Create data access policies, data control policies, data normalization standards, ETL standards.
  • Build and maintain data transformation and ETL pipelines for cloud data migration
  • Identify and implement best practices in maintaining a data rich environment for ML, AI, and BI solutions.
  • Configure, deploy, manage, and document data extraction, transformation, enrichment, and governance process in cloud data platforms in Microsoft Azure
  • Implement and monitor analytics to ensure the health of data
  • Support engineering and business analytics use cases
  • Advise technology and enterprise teams on data best practices 

Your journey up to this point will likely have included success in:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role or IT platform implementation role in a technical and analytical capacity
  • Hands on experience architecting and designing big data systems from the ground up
  • Experienced with cloud provider hosting – Azure preferred
  • Experience with big data tools, ETL Data Pipelines and Streaming Analytics; Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Understanding data best practices in ETL processes as well as data governance and monitoring
  • Understanding of traditional data warehouse components
  • Understanding the data lifecycle
  • Experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects, working with structured and unstructured data
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases
  • Proven track record with full Azure product suite including Blob Storage and Cloud
  • Experience working with development operations on databases that power APIs for front-end applications
  • Strong experience with cloud data tools and platforms
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizations
  • Bachelor’s or MA degree, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
  • Business analytics and visualization experience is a plus
