Vaccine Protocol

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

In support of the Division of Administration and campus strategic goals and initiatives, the University of Maryland seeks to fill a data analyst position to help drive innovation and deliver quality data analysis services to the division.

Reporting to the senior project manager in the Office of the Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, the data analyst is an important contributor in the Division of Administration, providing support for business operations and strategic decision making and working on key initiatives and projects. 

The data analyst will quickly and accurately respond to requests from campus leaders, department heads and outside entities. The data analyst will work with internal clients to identify analytical requirements and perform advanced business analysis using various techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling and data mining). The data analyst will be responsible for designing and maintaining data systems and databases, identifying relevant sources of data, obtaining and mining data, cleaning and filtering data, interpreting data (including using statistical tools and identifying trends and patterns), and presenting the data in the appropriate format needed for the request (including graphics, reports, dashboards). 

The data analyst determines best practices and develops actionable insights and recommendations for current business operations. The data analyst may assist in implementing or developing systems to capture business operations information.

The data analyst will effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The data analyst will be responsible for planning and performing recurring and ad hoc assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (Include licenses, certification, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Experience:
At least 5 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience conducting data analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical:

Demonstrated expertise in the following areas:
u25cf Data query languages and tools
u25cf Statistical methods; ability to design and carry out statistical data analysis in support of report accuracy
u25cf Use of large data sets
u25cf Core Microsoft Office suite programs;  advanced Excel user  including use of  pivot tables, macros, trend analysis and data modeling
u25cf Tableau or similar data visualization software to communicate data appropriately for a variety of decision makers and stakeholders
u25cf Google Suite applications

Leadership:
u25cf Demonstrated ability to lead with influence rather than position authority to facilitate performance of data analysis projects
u25cf Demonstrated ability to think strategically about what information is needed to support business decisions and work with requesters to plan data analysis projects

u25cf Knowledge of Workday
u25cf Experience with Oracle/Hyperion, Jaspersoft, SAS Enterprise Guide, SQL Developer and/or SAS Visual Analytics
u25cf Experience in a higher education environment

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. This is a primarily a sedentary position involving extensive use of computers.
