The Walt Disney Studios seeks a Senior Manager of Analytics to join the Studio Technology and Analytics Insights team. This team is a highly visible department that plays an integral part in key business decisions across the Studio organization and the company.

The Senior Manager, Analytics Insights will provide analytical leadership in support of the overall business strategy of one or more of the The Walt Disney Studio business segments, such as Theatrical Marketing, In-Home Direct to Consumer, or Disney Music. This individual will lead a team and provide business, digital, and social analysis in support of: 1. Our marketing and consumer research functions in our theatrical business, 2. Our numerous Direct-to Consumer businesses such as Disney Movies Anywhere, Disney Movie Rewards, Digital Copy Plus and, 3. Our Disney Music digital distribution, sales, and A&R businesses.

The goal of the Analytic Insights team is to create a competitive advantage for TWDS by leveraging data and advanced analytics. This position requires passion, curiosity, analytical, and story-telling skills. This role is a leadership and client facing role. As such, this role is critical in establishing the analytical agenda for a business segment by partnering with key business leaders to understand their gaps and how data and analytics can play a part in closing those gaps. Further, the successful candidate will act as a leader and evangelist for analytic capabilities, emerging techniques and data sources, and R&D investments in the analytical and technology domains within, and across, the TWDS. This position requires the ability to work closely with various business segments to gain perspective and a strong understanding of their objectives. A curious, proactive, independent, high-energy, positive attitude is a must.

The Studio Entertainment segment produces and acquires live-action and animated motion pictures, direct-to-video content, musical recordings and live stage plays.
Responsibilities

  • Has a product mindset when it comes to designing solutions to meet business needs, maximizing reuse and ease of adoption outside of their individual team
  • Teasing out client requirements in regards to analytics and setting the right team priorities to meet the business needs
  • Delivering the right product, at the right time, in the right form to address the business need without necessarily having those needs explicitly stated or documented 

  • Provide solutions that drive KPIs established by media, marketing, research, operations, PR teams, and others 

  • Translation of needed business capabilities into the analytics product strategy, influencing the five year plan for analytics capabilities for the studio, and the investment decisions of the studio technology organization to achieve the key milestones 

  • Deliver analytics to support decision-making including website, direct to consumer, distribution and sales, product, and marketing efforts 

  • Leverage social analytics tools such as Crimson Hexigon’s ForeSight to track, trend, and analyze consumer behaviors, expressed preferences, and response to media and marketing efforts of the Studio
  • Actively mine social networks to recognize opportunity for amplification, crisis identification and response
  • Leverage analytical tools (Omniture and Google Analytics) to understand onsite behavior, e.g. click through rates, golden pathways, conversion analysis, marketing effectiveness 

  • Develop and deploy testing hypotheses and analyze test results, providing the necessary analytical rigor to ensure data quality, consistency, repeatability, and accuracy of insights
  • Apply data science skills to develop more advanced solutions that drive action in the business
  • Ensure that team members ask and answer the next question(s) after gathering and analyzing the data to make insights more powerful – not just delivering what was asked for!
  • Set the learning agenda for analysts on their team to ensure their personal and professional growth and development, including influencing the setting of individual and departmental OKRs
  • Look for new ways to solve problems, automate solutions, eliminate unnecessary work, and otherwise challenge the thinking of the team
  • Desire to participate in an “Open Source” learning environment where sharing, documenting, teaching, and collaborating with others is the culture

Basic Qualifications

  • 1 - 3 years of experience as an analyst, delivering results and being personally accountable for the quality of those results
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in consumer research and/or social media 

  • 3 – 5 years of management and leadership experience leading a team of analysts in a business facing capacity
  • Strong, practical knowledge of a variety of digital analytics tools and techniques
  • Proficiency with social media analytics provided by Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr.
  • Strong presentation skills – ability to tailor their story to the right audience, regardless of level
  • Strong collaboration skills – ability and willingness to hear alternative points of view, critically evaluate, and incorporate as appropriate to improve the quality and depth of deliverables
  • Ability to tell a story with data – What does the analysis tell you? What do you think the business should do next? Why do you think what is happening, is happening? Ability to influence others with the story of what you’re seeing in the data to make business recommendations while listening to and incorporating alternative points of view
  • Previous experience with a major media company (film/TV/digital), particularly on the content distribution/acquisition side, strongly desired
  • Ability and desire to lead projects independently from start to finish, working with internal and external teams to make decisions and maintain momentum

  • Excellent time and project management skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio of projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven track record in meeting aggressive deadlines while supporting their team – ability to negotiate deadlines, scope, and organize deliverables to ensure the most important outcomes happen first
  • Comfort with the technology and pace of change of that technology in the data, analytics, and data science domains

Required Education

  • At least a bachelor degree in a field of analytic study
