The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS) is seeking a Manager of Analytics & Insights to implement a business intelligence and analytical insights strategy for the Analytics Insights team within the TWDS.

This position is an individual contributor that will report to the VP of Analytic Insights and Business Intelligence (AI/BI) for TWDS.

The goal of this position is to create a competitive advantage for TWDS, with specific focus on leveraging data and advanced analytics to create a 360 degree view of digital and social analytics.

TWDS encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition of and domestic & international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, DVD releases, live stage plays, and music & soundtrack recordings.

Social Media Monitoring

Manage data to develop actionable insights from public digital signals across multiple social networks including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Tumblr, and blogs.
Applying data science, statistics, and machine learning techniques, identify influencers, build digital profiles that can be segmented for analysis and marketing efforts, build and visualize audience networks, and identify actionable brand affinities.

By leveraging natural language processing and machine learning, identify, at scale, relevant topics and threads of conversation that relate to The Walt Disney Company, Studio, and key executives.

Business Intelligence and Reporting

In this portion of the role, it is expected that new methods of data visualization will be explored and leveraged to increase the impact and insight gained through reporting.

A key measure of success will be an increase in the effectiveness and actionable insights of reporting coming from the Audience Insights team, to the business.

A key competency required for this portion of the role is an ability to collaborate with business stakeholders at all levels, negotiating the best outcome that balances level of effort with readability of the results and actionability.

Marketing and Media Testing

Leveraging data, work with business teams responsible for media and marketing campaigns to understand and further their business goals.

Pre and post campaign analysis and insights is a key aspect of this portion of the role - specifically building consensus, socializing how to isolate data for maximum readability, and finally distilling key learnings and insights to inform specific business decisions and overall strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Developing an understanding of consumer behaviors and measure the effectiveness of business efforts in real time, including:
  • Next Generation Metrics - Developing new and re-defining key performance indicators and goals
  • Optimization Strategies - Adoption of industry best practices
  • Reporting and Dashboards - Development of smart views of data
  • Actionable Insights - Breakthrough industry & campaign-specific learning
  • Identifying and educating key clients on opportunities for data-centric initiatives that provide competitive advantage, including A/B testing to prove/disprove business hypothesis
  • Drawing upon product, business, and marketing experience and acumen to scope and execute relevant, focused studies
  • Consistently delivering commitments on time, with high quality while proactively managing client expectations
  • Providing support to internal clients in the areas of metrics & KPI development as needed
  • Influencing and evangelizing the evolution of the studio's analytical environment and underlying infrastructure
  • Acting as a contributing member of the company's global analytics community, establishing an effective means of collaborating, in order to achieve goals

Basic Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in progressive analytics or consumer research
  • Proven track record of producing actionable insights that led to demonstrable improvements in business performance
  • Experience building best in class client facing analysis and research
  • Strong knowledge of various analytical and reporting processes in a large corporate environment including operational reporting, predictive modeling, financial analysis, and data mining
  • Strong knowledge of Google Analytics or Omniture, Crimson Hexigon, R, Tableau and other analytic tools
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and communicate the value of proposed initiatives to secure stakeholder support
  • Exceptional analytical thinking skills, segmentation, research, lifetime value, ROI
  • Ability to lead projects independently from start to finish, working with internal and external teams to make decisions and maintain momentum
  • Excellent time and project management skills, with the ability to manage detail work and communicate project status effectively to all levels
  • Outstanding communication and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to make clear and concise presentations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with a major media company (film/TV/digital) a plus
