About the Role

A Practice Director is responsible for the direction, definition, oversight, coordination, development and delivery of Sparkhound’s practices. The Practice Director- Analytics will work closely with the Managing Director and the Business Development team to document presale’s activities, mentor practice team members and deliver an exceptional client experience by leading and owning project deliveries by supporting the full Analytics life cycle including: business consulting, data modeling,data integration, visualization, data science, and integration with Enterprise IT.

  • Leading and Developing Consulting Teams
  • Provide the best possible customer experience by bridging the gap between Sales and Operations
  • Establishing Sparkhound’s technical credibility with clients and partners
  • Defining and applying technical standards
  • Assisting with research and development of emerging technologies
  • Delivering billable services to C-Level executives of large organizations
  • Driving project and practice profitability
  • Manage and mentor the team in the development of consultative and technical skills to maintain a high-performance customer delivery team
  • Ensure the culture of the organization is upheld at all times and that direct employees are highly engaged
  • Ensure adequacy of process and alignment with our Core Competencies
  • Maintain visibility into compliance of standards, best practices, and continual improvement of Analytics practice operations
  • Maintain vision and direction for the Practice which includes technical service offerings aligned with the market
  • Work directly with clients as the subject matter expert/architect in data and cloud architecture
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Are you a fit?

  • 4-year degree with 10+ years of experience executing Business Intelligence and Analytics project.
  • Experience managing a Business Intelligence or Analytics team.
  • Experience implementing at least one next generation Analytics solution for a large organization (including Data Lakes, Data Science, and Visualization components).
  • MBA or MSA degree preferred
  • Executive–level communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Advanced knowledge of Business Intelligence and Analytics technology and techniques (ie. data modeling), their history, and current trends
  • Advanced business consulting skills, with a working knowledge of and ability to apply Analytics techniques to common organizational disciplines such as Accounting, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, and Information Technology.
  • Experience working in at least one of the following industries: Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Healthcare, Retail, Real Estate, Financial Services.
  • Advanced knowledge of current Information Technology trends including managed services, cloud computing, IoT, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Analytics stack including SQL Server, PowerBI, Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS), Excel, etc.
  • Expert-level knowledge of at least one major tool in each of the following Analytics disciplines:
    • Data Warehousing (Snowflake, Azure, Amazon Redshift, Teradata, etc.)
    • Data Integration (Informatica, Mulesoft, BOOMI, SSIS, etc.)
    • Data Acceleration (SAP Hana, Teradata, Amazon Redshift, SSAS, Oracle Hyperion, etc.)
    • Data Visualization (Tableau, PowerBI, QlikView, etc.)
    • Enterprise Reporting (SAP BusinessObjects, Oracle, etc.)
    • Data Science (SAS, Azure Machine Learning, R, Python, etc.)
  • A demonstrated interest in and understanding of emerging data architectures including real time data ingestion (i.e., Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs etc.), NoSQL data stores (i.e., Hadoop, Spark, Microsoft CloudDB, etc.) and column-store databases (i.e., Teradata, SAP Hana, Amazon Redshift, etc.).
