Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Intelligence Program
- Management: Develop, implement, and continuously improve a strategic Business Intelligence program, ensuring outputs are accurate, accessible, and aligned with business needs. Own Analytics request queue and take a lead role in supporting any technical issues with BI application(s). Establish Business Intelligence standards, documentation, and maintenance processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and strong data governance. Identify repeatable needs and transition outputs into standardized, scalable solutions.
- Training: Empower users to be self-sufficient in reaching their analytical needs as the system allows.
- Innovation: Research and stay up to date on emerging technologies and tools. Make recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.
- Metric Program: Partner with the Manager, Analytics Programs and AVP, Business Intelligence & Data Strategy to operationalize the metric strategy by embedding defined measures into analytics, dashboards, and reporting used across the organization.
2. Data Visualization
- In partnership with the Manager, Analytics Programs, set the standards for dashboard development, determining audience, intent, and design principles to ensure dashboards function as decision-support tools rather than static reports.
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and BI tools that function as decision-support assets rather than static outputs.
3. Analytics
- Data Storytelling: Translate complex data into clear, compelling executive-level data stories that drive understanding and decision-making.
- Proactive and Ad-Hoc Analyses: Perform ad-hoc analyses proactively, and in collaboration with staff, to answer common business questions, create an understanding of outcomes, and enhance daily operations related organizational priorities.
- Communicate insights, trends, and recommendations through structured engagement.
- Advance data literacy across the organization by helping stakeholders interpret and apply insights effectively.
- Strategic Projects: Assist the Manager, Analytics Programs in performing analyses needed to guide strategic development and/or communication initiatives.
- Predictive Models:Guide the development of predictive and advanced analytical models by defining use cases, inputs, validation expectations, and implementation plans.
- Reporting: Partner with the Reporting Manager to build queries, reports, and exports using tools such as the CRM’s reporting function, SQL, and SSRS to support fundraising and strategic business goals.
4. Administrative
- Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children’s Foundation meetings as appropriate. Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
- Budget: Work with your direct manager to monitor individual budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
- Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children’s Foundation, including mobile pay devices, webinar software, and social media.
- Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all Foundation policies, as well as local, state, and federal laws that govern business practices.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Riley Children’s Foundation events: Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation Events as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience working in analytics or relevant field. Understanding of relational databases required. Experience with designing and implementing BI solutions, SQL Server/querying databases, SSRS, and predictive analytics preferred.
- Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize a heavy workload. Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organization. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a key focus on Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with SharePoint is a plus. Proficiency in use of databases and research products. Sensitivity to needs of donors. Must maintain highest level of confidentiality standards.
