Job Description

R.V. Kuhns & Associates, Inc., (RVK) is seeking a talented and knowledgeable professional to serve in the capacity of Applications/Database Developer, in its Portland, Oregon office. The person selected for the opening will develop application software solutions in web- and Windows-based environments starting from concept and design to completed product and product life cycle maintenance, with an emphasis on software quality and end-user satisfaction. This position requires the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and effectively communicate project statuses to key stakeholders. It also requires the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain websites, applications, and Windows services using Microsoft .NET
    • Design, develop, and maintain multiple SQL Server data stores
    • Create and maintain SQL Server Integration Services ETL processes
    • Meet with key project stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business processes as they relate to the organization and for the requested project
    • Customize implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM solutions
    • Perform automated and manual data transfers between various sources
    • Develop quality assurance testing parameters and processes to be performed by system users
    • Provide end-user training for all new systems and updates, including documentation and leading training sessions
    • Update stakeholders regarding status of ongoing projects
    • Work with vendors to establish methodologies and data points necessary for systems integration between internal and established third-party applications

Nonessential functions

  • Serve as first-responder to issues or concerns for internally-developed software projects
  • Assist with general IS support as needed
  • Create RFPs and assist in vendor selection for externally developed software solutions

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of .NET development experience using C# for Windows and Web Applications
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems planning and requirements development
  • 5 years of database development and programing experience with SQL Server, including advanced stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, linked servers, and system performance tuning
  • 2 years of experience developing SQL Server Integration Studio ETL solutions using remote and local data stores
  • 2 years of experience in report development using ActiveReports and SQL Server Reporting Studio
  • 2 years of experience working with Microsoft SharePoint, including Business Connectivity Services configuration
  • 2 years of project and development management experience, including working with third-party and contract developers
  • 2 years of experience configuring and customizing Microsoft Dynamics CRM solutions
  • Self-starter requiring minimal guidance or oversight
  • Strong analytical analysis skills to see both the overarching scope and individual details necessary for guiding, developing, and supporting projects through the full life-cycle
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals throughout the organization with a wide range of specializations and technical levels
  • Commitment to quality and ability to check your own work to ensure accuracy in the production environment.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry helpful but not required on initial hire
