Statistician - Marketing ROI Analytics Development


Job Description

Nielsen is a recognized leader in market response modeling.  Our Marketing ROI analytics development organization in Evanston, Illinois has an open position for a Statistician.  The team focuses on research and development of innovative analytics used globally by Nielsen to build ROI for the world’s top companies. The ideal candidate must have work experience in the development of econometric and/or optimization models, expertise in modern analytics programming, and the capacity to work in an agile development environment alongside software engineers and analysts.


  • Design market response analytics models and approaches
  • Design and write SAS modules for Nielsen’s analytics platforms
  • Partner with software engineering to build best-of-breed analytics solutions
  • Document and present methodology inside and outside the company
  • Create various prototypes for research and development purposes



  • 5-7 years of experience in related field
  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Business (with quantitative emphasis), or related field
  • Experience writing production grade code on a standard statistical platform (SAS, SPSS, R)
  • Work experience in quantitative marketing analysis
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Well-organized and capable of handling multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


  • Experience in marketing mix modeling with Nielsen or IRI syndicated data
  • Experience in operations research
  • Experience with attribution modeling, big data analytics and/or machine learning
  • Short release lifecycle experience (agile processes, including Scrum)
  • Experience with .Net development
