Summary
The Strategy, Data, and Technology team is a unique in-house consulting arm within the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) that strives to drive best practices and innovation across all TRQ teams. The primary focus for this fast-paced and collaborative group is on all aspects of systems management, operations, analytics, and data strategy.
The individual serving in the Technology Solutions Design & Implementation focus area will design, implement, and maintain critical technology systems that drive decision-making and operations across TRQ workstreams. These areas play a key role in the scale-up and citywide implementation of an innovative and comprehensive model of supporting teacher recruitment. Performs related work.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains business intelligence/analytics systems using variety of data warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load), and modeling concepts and methodologies.
- Writes SQL Code to design custom data reports for TRQ teams.
- Develops scripts (in Python, R, and/or Powershell) to automate complex, high-volume system operation processes as scheduled daily jobs.
- Customizes off-the-shelf software products (customer support management system, survey administration system, etc.) to conform to desired branding and user interaction and facilitate large-scale data collection requirements (using HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript).
- Automates processes and develops, tests, and maintains system integrations using workflow software such as Microsoft Power Automate and knowledge of REST APIs.
- Ensures sustainability of highly technical processes by proposing and implementing more maintainable alternatives and providing detailed documentation on the maintenance and execution of existing processes.
- Creates logic flow charts and data models to support application and database development and reporting.
- Implements and operates user management security for TRQ-owned applications and databases.
- Evaluates current processes, proposes, and implements innovative systems projects to adapt to new requirements, solve problems, and streamline large-scale operations.
- Works with partners across several separate units to become a subject matter expert in their business processes.
- Troubleshoots system issues and provides hands-on configuration support
Preferred Qualifications
- An interest in teacher recruitment and preparation.
- Strong organizational skills; the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize among them.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Works well independently and in teams, in a position of authority and as a collaborator.
- Ability to work with and through others to achieve success.
- Proficiency in and experience using programming languages such as Python, R, and PowerShell to automate tasks.
- Familiarity with web development languages (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
- Experience writing SQL code to select, update, and insert data in MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience performing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) on data and modeling data in a business intelligence/analytics suite such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience soliciting requirements from non-technical partners and translating them to technical requirements documentation.
- Experience developing workflow diagrams (i.e., with Visio, Lucidchart, etc.)
- Experience using and configuring enterprise-level applications (i.e., applicant tracking systems, customer relationship management systems, and customer support systems).
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to derive insights from reports to propose new strategies.
Pay: $40/hour- 35 hours per week
Timeframe: Short term ~ 4 months
