Business Systems Analysis 

 

Summary 

The Strategy, Data, and Technology team is a unique in-house consulting arm within the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) that strives to drive best practices and innovation across all TRQ teams. The primary focus for this fast paced and collaborative group is on all aspects of systems management, operations, analytics, and data strategy.

 

The individual serving in the Business Systems Analysis focus area will be critical in supporting the design and implementation of technology systems that drive decision making and operations across TRQ work streams.

 

These areas play a key role in the scale-up and citywide implementation of an innovative and comprehensive model of supporting teacher recruitment. Performs related work.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Evaluates current processes and proposes innovative systems development and implementation projects to adapt to new requirements, solve problems, and streamline large-scale operations
  • Coordinates the work of and relationships with multiple contracted software vendors including prioritizing development projects, securing necessary licensing and training packages, relaying technical requirements and feedback, and quality checking new development
  • Supports software procurement and renewal operations including projecting expenses for budget planning, tracking status of 15+ annual software renewal purchases, and providing written justification for purchases to DOE leadership
  • Works with partners across several separate units to become a subject matter expert in their business processes
  • Analyzes large datasets to prepare system usage reports for TRQ leadership and propose strategies to ensure maximum return on systems investments
  • Coordinates TRQ’s software licensing strategy including working with team leads to identify staff needing access to specific products/functions, and making necessary updates to license assignments and access permissions
  • Supports cross-office staff performing system configuration tasks to ensure integrity of system functions, compliance with DOE security and accessibility standards, and other best practices
  • Translates programmatic needs to technical documentation and develops workflow diagrams to illustrate system functions
  • Troubleshoots system issues and provides hands-on configuration support
  • Delivers technical training to TRQ staff and develops related resources
  • Documents internal technology operations and maintenance procedures

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in or with schools, especially in urban public schools.
  • Experience in project management, including goal setting and tracking, planning and implementation.
  • An interest in teacher recruitment and preparation.
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills; the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize among them.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Works well independently and in teams, in a position of authority and as a collaborator.
  • Ability to work with and through others to achieve success.
  • Experience soliciting requirements from non-technical partners and translating them to technical requirements documentation.
  • Experience developing workflow diagrams (i.e., with Visio, Lucidchart, etc.)
  • Experience using and configuring enterprise-level applications (i.e., applicant tracking systems, customer relationship management systems, and customer support systems).
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to derive insights from reports to propose new strategies.

 

Pay: $40/hour- 35 hours per week

Timeframe: Short term ~ 4 months

Location: Flexible
