National Campaigns Data Manager

Murmuration

Job Description

Who We Are

Murmuration seeks massively improved education outcomes for kids by providing information, infrastructure, and support for education-related public advocacy and community building efforts.

One of Mumuration's key initiatives, mInsights, is a technology product that seeks to aggregate data from a combination of sources such as partner organization’s member data, publicly available data, consumer data, voterfile data, and more. These data will then be used to build a variety of models and tools that will position Murmuration’s partner organizations to activate and expand their supporter bases effectively, and mobilize them for sustained political change.  Traditionally these data have lived in silos within individual organizations or been un- or under-utilized.  Murmuration has the unique opportunity to build, with partners, a massive dataset that can leverage creative data science to profoundly change the way that advocacy efforts and service providers engage their bases.

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced, innovative National Campaigns Data Manager to lead our rapidly growing internal data team. The ideal candidate is more than a number cruncher. Working with Murmuration’s team of developers and top political strategists, this individual will be chiefly responsible for harnessing and growing the power of mInsights from conception to design to implementation. This position will also be responsible for owning and creating the partnerships that will strengthen and enhance the data over time.

The National Campaigns Data Manager will:

  • Manage and coordinate Murmuration’s day-to-day data strategy
  • Build and manage the Data Management team, overseeing hiring and the long-term strategic direction of the team
  • Assist partner organizations in developing and implementing their own data strategies
  • Lead efforts to craft and drive a scalable data acquisition strategy that yields a sufficiently robust and quality dataset upon which the analysis team can build models and tools
  • Establish policies and procedures on data standards, best practices, and organizational structure
  • Enforce robust and secure data governance practices
  • Work with vendors to acquire data sources to enhance targeted outreach and tools to contact targets and manage systems
  • Work with partner organizations to enhance supporter/voter contact programs - including assisting partners in employing data best practices while implementing these programs
  • Work with other education initiative national staff and partner groups to ensure that programs are maximizing shared voterfile data, targeted lists, and other data resources
  • Make recommendations and provide strategic support regarding ways to make data and database operations more efficient and effective across Murmuration

Candidate Profile

Murmuration attracts employees with distinctive and diverse backgrounds and accomplishments. Integrity, creativity, flexibility, and drive are key attributes of competitive candidates.

The ideal candidate will have:
