In order to help us meet this goal, we are currently looking to fill the role of VP, Business Analytics.  The successful candidate will build and develop a highly motivated team that will leverage data insights and modeling in order to provide growth opportunities for the Credit Union and the members we serve.  Member One offers a collaborative work environment where we challenge ourselves to redefine what the “member experience” looks like at all levels of the organization.  This role will support the internal and external member experience by providing knowledgeable data driven strategy recommendations to senior management and ensure the business analytics strategy is understood throughout the Credit Union.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a four year college degree in Data Science, Business Administration, or related field.  Other requirements include 3+ years of experience leading a team; experience in business intelligence and/or data analytics; knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBi, etc., databases containing largescale, complex datasets; and an understanding of a wide variety of analytics processes (governance, measurement, segmentation, etc.)  Additional sought after qualifications can be found in the job description attached.

POSITION:  Vice President of Business Analytics 

DEPARTMENT:  Business Analytics 

SALARY GRADE: 13 REPORTS TO:  Chief Brand Officer

FLSA: Exempt DATE: 6/2021

JOB SUMMARY:  The Vice President of Business Analytics is responsible for building, leading, and maintaining the development of a highly motivated business analytics team. Reporting directly to the Chief Brand Officer, this position will oversee the use of the Credit Union’s own member data along with supplemental data (peer, market, etc.) to provide actionable data-driven insights to understand and predict behavior, drive profitability, and generate growth opportunities for the organization. The Vice President of Business Analytics will oversee reporting and visualization, data exploration, advanced/predictive analytics, segmentation, and enterprise performance management solutions (KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, profitability indexes, etc.) among other data-driven initiatives. This position will serve as a support for senior management in making data-driven strategic decisions enterprise wide, and will serve as an active member of the Management Operating Committee (MOC) to ensure the business analytics strategy is widely communicated and understood throughout all aspects of the Credit Union. The Vice President of Business Analytics will be ultimately responsible for helping transform the Credit Union into a business that differentiates and competes on information and analytics in direct support of the organization’s vision, mission, and growth goals.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an enterprise data strategy to align with, drive, and measure performance towards overall organizational goals and initiatives
  • Through active participation in MOC, ensure enterprise data platforms and business planning are fully integrated on a continuous basis to increase business capability and value, reduce cost and risk, and foster innovation
  • Help establish and monitor key performance indicators; analyze results, forecasts, and trends for ascertaining growth opportunities; make recommendations if needed to senior management for mid-course corrections to achieve objectives 
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making requiring intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable
  • Research and implement advanced analytical tools, software, and solutions
  • Research and analyze areas of interest to the Credit Union which will allow the organization to gain competitive advantages
  • Work closely with the data architecture/engineering team to ensure data integrity and governance is maintained
  • Ensure business analytics “library” is established and stays current, to include data definitions, training, report documentation, data sources, availability of data, etc.
  • Ensure key areas – notably marketing, membership, loans, and cards – are addressed through liaisons and other resources on the Business Analytics team to monitor and drive continuous knowledge and growth within those departments, as well as to mitigate risks
  • Leverage data mining, modeling, and segmentation to develop and improve marketing strategies, member acquisition and retention strategies
  • Create and deliver next generation capabilities around analysis, reporting, and business intelligence tools
  • Guide the organization towards the ultimate goal of utilizing data generated from within each area of business in making smarter, more effective decisions
  • Lead the Business Analytics team to deliver excellent internal member experience amongst key stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor team members, ensuring the team is staffed with highly motivated and skilled professionals who will contribute to the Credit Union’s overall success
  • Be available for evening and/or Saturday work hours on an as-needed basis as directed by the Chief Brand Officer
  • Complies with all federal regulations, all Credit Union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act
  • Complies with all fair lending laws and the prohibitions enumerated in the Credit Union’s lending policy
  • Ensures that the confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding the Credit Union, its members, and its employees is held to the highest level of business ethics

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  

 

Education & Work History

  • A four year college degree in Data Science, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance or related field is required
  • Three+ years of proven experience in the financial services industry is strongly preferred 

Experience

  • Experience required in business intelligence, data analytics, and/or finance 
  • Required knowledge of data warehousing concepts; data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBi, etc.; databases containing largescale, complex datasets
  • Required experience and understanding of a wide variety of analytics processes (governance, measurement, segmentation, etc.)
  • Strong track record in converting data analysis into tangible and significant real-world changes
  • Proficiency with business analytics tools, Microsoft Office, SQL and SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of data security and privacy technologies, key business analytics trends, and leading edge technologies and best practices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

This position may require stooping, bending, squatting and reaching, as well as the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. From time to time, may be asked to handle, move and/or carry large boxes of supplies/files weighing up to 35 pounds.
