We are looking for a Database Administrator (IT) who will build, develop, maintain, and provide support of the credit union’s Microsoft SQL databases.  We work in a collaborative work environment where we motivate ourselves to redefine what the “member experience” looks like at all levels of the organization.  This role will support internal and external member experience by ensuring the accessibility, integrity, security and performance of databases throughout the Credit Union.

 

OB SUMMARY: The primary function of this position will be to perform the design, development, maintenance, end-user support, and documentation for the credit union’s various primarily Microsoft SQL databases. The Database Administrator must be well versed in database development and management in a Microsoft SQL environment and will be responsible for ensuring the accessibility, integrity, security and performance of databases.

  • Responsible for maintaining the various databases used by the credit union, ensuring the integrity and optimizing the performance of those databases and report status of systems to manager.
  • Assists with the design and implementation of new databases and database servers in accordance with the needs of organization and end users
  • Performs modifications to existing databases, working with third party vendors as needed
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots database errors
  • Monitors database performance and system health, following Change Management procedures to implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
  • Informs management and end users of database changes and provides training as needed
  • Manages database access, including user accounts and security levels, and sets/maintains database standards
  • Works to maximize database uptime and manages parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Works towards automating repeating database tasks
  • Assists analysts in creating and managing database reports, visualizations, and dashboards
  • Creates and maintains database management procedures and other database documentation
  • Assists with establishing business continuity and disaster recovery protocols and ensures databases are being backed up and can be restored successfully
  • Assists with Business Intelligence initiatives, including but not limited to the evaluation of data analysis models and procedures
  • Makes recommendations and assists with the evaluation of database software purchases
  • Available for on-call support as needed
  • Keeps current with new technologies and solutions by attending technical training, seminars, workshops, and/or related academic courses as required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Know and understand all applicable credit union policies
  • Comply with all federal regulations, credit union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act
  • Comply with all fair lending laws and the prohibitions enumerated in the credit union’s lending policy
  • Ensures that the confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding the credit union, its members and employees are held to the highest level of business ethics
  • Overtly support the team environment in the workplace as well as credit union management and the Board of Directors

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; however, 5 years of proven experience may be substituted for formal education requirements. 
  • Experience with database administration and database technologies in a primarily Microsoft SQL shop
  • Strong command of Microsoft SQL and Microsoft SSMS server tools
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
  • Understanding of database architecture
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Additionally, must possess the ability to interpret technical material and be able to present ideas and procedures clearly to others

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

This position may require stopping, bending, squatting and reaching. From time to time, may be asked to handle, move and or carry boxes of supplies/files weighing up to 10 pounds.
