Job Description

The Director of Software Products and Digital Health will lead development and execution of Pharmaceutical and Health Technologies' (PHT) global strategy in the area of pharmaceutical management information systems, with a focus on low and middle income countries (LMICs). This individual plays a key role in driving new product growth at PHT as well as PHT’s approach to incorporating health information system innovations into PHT projects and programs. The Director will be responsible for driving the product roadmap and strategy in support of business goals for PHT’s existing and emerging global product suite. The Director will also lead development of PHT’s strategic information and data strategy and approaches to advance PHT’s capability in digital health, particularly data analytics and support of evidence-informed decision making at all levels of pharmaceutical systems.

Specific Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Lead and define an information technology strategy and product vision for PHT by serving as PHT’s key global thought leader and advisor on product and technology/system trends, opportunities, challenges and priorities.

Thought Leadership

  • Explore new products and platform opportunities and evaluate their feasibility and revenue potential, including defining the business strategy to assure its viability and alignment with PHT goals and objectives.
  • Work with PHT’s senior management team to develop and incorporate strategic information, data analytics and decision science as core competencies of PHT’s technical offerings.
  • Develop an integrated product and technology roadmap across PHT projects, programs, and service offerings.
  • Oversee software product development and product lifecycle management across PHT.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality assurance to PHT members involved in software product development, implementation, and maintenance as well as data analytics activities.

Design and Implementation

  • Help identify key areas of focus, the competitive landscape and contribute to make/buy decisions on where to build, partner or acquire strategic information system assets.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of product technology/products and business process improvements to support current and future strategies, emerging business models and functional requirements.

Business Development

  • Lead and/or coordinate support for multiple implementations of product portfolio, new development platforms and business opportunities.
  • Expand PHT’s business portfolio by identifying new business opportunities and serving a PHT’s subject matter expert (SME) for new business development teams.

Procurement

  • Manage PHT software product technology assets including procurement, licensing, upgrades, product portfolio-related IP rights; negotiate agreements and contracts with clients, partners, vendors/service providers to ensure procurement practices comply with MSH policies/regulations.

Other

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional product development teams and deliver projects on time and with credibility.
  • Represent PHT/MSH at peer forums, seminars and industry events.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • BS/BA degree
  • Postgraduate education in a field of study closely related to the assigned responsibilities
  • At least 8-10 years of software product management experience

Preferred:

  • MBA preferred
  • 12+ years' experience in the following areas strongly preferred:  New Product Development, New Product Launch, and Product Strategy.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Technical fluency; comfort identifying key technical issues, understanding their business implications, and discussing alternative technical solutions.
  • Experience working in LMICs with demonstrated understanding of current topics, trends, and institutions related to global health, particularly pharmaceutical information systems and health technologies is highly desirable.
  • Superior analytical skills, inductive and deductive reasoning, with the ability to autonomously conduct evaluations & assessments including market sizing, competitive analysis and positioning, terrain assessment and financial modeling.
  • Strong relationship development skills and commercial orientation necessary to convince prospects to contribute to building a new product.
  • Excellent project and time management and execution skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Knowledge of or experience working across multiple platforms/applications (Android, PC, Web).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including visual depiction of insights and ideas.
