Job Description

Join us as a Principal Product Manager, Data  in our Austin office, and be instrumental in helping achieve our vision to change behavior and revolutionize payment in the gigantic and increasingly tech-savvy construction industry.

A Principal Product Manager, Data at Levelset will be responsible for cross functional data analytics products to distribute our insightful data through various (API's & Streams) as well as consumer applications.  You will be at the ground floor of standing up and maturing our analytics practice. You will have early influence on building out the teams, how organize the work streams, and establish development processes. Our construction data platform assembles, transforms, and loads large data sets (>10M) about US contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, projects, payment documents, etc... across various internal and external sources (i.e. Saas applications and data systems, US County Clerk data).  The scope of this data product lane is to make our raw data assets insightful using advanced analytics and data science to engage our end users. Our stack currently consists of technologies like MySQL, PHP, Neo4J, Redis and other modern tools in a highly scalable microservices architecture.  

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration and Decision Making
  • Defining data analytics use cases and requirements gathering from both internal and external constituents to support both corporate and data roadmap KPI’s
  • Accurately use key data and metrics to support assumptions, recommendations, and drive data product development
  • Offer short and long terms data solutions to business problems from a data platform and data science perspective while balancing data complexity, data resource availability, and execution efforts
  • Develop relationships with our customers (internal and external) to build empathy for their data needs, inform data product strategies, and develop new data product offerings 
  • Work cross functionally with data scientists, data engineers, data researchers, data analysts, and software engineers to identify and implement complex data systems, services, and pipelines

 

  • Establish and Execute on Monthly / Quarterly Releases 
  • Release / user story grooming scoping (technical feasibility and data prepping / cleansing)
  • Write technical data specs, create wireframes (as needed), prototypes, test plans, release checklists and communicate analytics enabled functionality 
  • Provide pre-development data analysis, data workflows / design, and systems analysis to improve development forecasting and improve development velocity
  • Implement and enforce data quality processes through development / content (editorial) alignment
  • Deliver on data analytics, machine learning, or data science enabled product feature sets and offerings
  • Identify and fix process gaps around execution, roll-out, and ongoing support of data projects

Qualifications: 

  • Computer science degree or equivalent experience with high volume data aggregation and advanced analytics data products
  • 7+ years in a technical data leadership / product management role working on data driven applications and / or tools (i.e. recommenders, auto-enrichment) and creating engaging UX
  • 7+ years experience and fluency in SQL and/or other advanced query languages and data extraction tools; curiosity for data structures, data quality, and data management toolsets
  • Have delivered on data enabled product offerings or feature sets using advanced analytics, machine learning, or data science techniques as a product manager or data science leader
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to structure and process qualitative data and draw insightful conclusions
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and machine learning concepts and theory
  • Problem solver able to take a complex business request and transform it into a clean, simple data solution
  • Quick learner and open to new ideas and technologies, and willing to offer creative data solutions
  • Background in fintech, insuretech, or credit / risk domain is a plus
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
