This position is responsible for the digital analytics and insights activities for Musician’s Friend.com, Guitar Center.com, Music 123.com and The Woodwind and Brasswind.com.  This individual must be a strategic thinker who can recognize opportunities in ecommerce and leverage those opportunities to drive the business.  S/he will be immersed in the day-to-day .com business and is expected to recognize and act on opportunities unique to each site. S/he is then accountable for designing the analytical framework for exploring the opportunity, using tools to extract the data, developing data models, performing statistical analysis, solving the business problem, presenting recommendations and findings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day web analytics, and ad-hoc data requests for four different websites (Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend, Music123, and The Woodwind and Brasswind)
  • Develop and oversee the execution of daily, weekly and monthly reports to support and direct the business growth of the websites
  • Use analysis of the sites to drive high value testing opportunities, usability inquiries, and key recommendations for the UX team
  • Tie together business performance metrics, web data and other sources to identify opportunities and create insightful recommendations
  • Help establish the digital insights team as the “go-to” experts within the organization
  • Translate complex data and test results into clear, engaging, and actionable insights to be shared across the company
  • Present findings clearly in text, charts, PowerPoint and oral presentations
  • Work closely with the technology team to manage implementation of tracking code and troubleshoot technology issues

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience in web analytics, including experience in extracting and combining different data sources, conducting statistical analyses, and developing strategic recommendations
  • Experience with Adobe analytics tools (Site Catalyst, Test & Target, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data manipulation and visualization
  • Strong critical thinking ability
  • Strong commitment to detail and accuracy
  • Naturally curious – always asking “why?” – and pushes until an answer is found
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with senior leadership
