We’re growing rapidly and are searching for a Senior Database Engineer to join our innovative team. As a Senior Database Engineer, you will develop, optimize, and support a geographically distributed database infrastructure, both in the cloud and on the premises. If you're interested in taking on the kind of engineering challenges necessary to provide for these complex and highly available systems, we hope you join our team.
What you’ll do as a Senior Database Engineer:
- You will deploy, maintain, and monitor of our large scale Aurora MySQL and VMWare-based on-premises database infrastructure.
- Automate monitoring, maintenance, and support related tasks.
- Recommend, follow, advocate, and train on database design and performance best practices.
- You will rapidly diagnose and fix problems as well as provide periodic on-call support.
- Lead the planning and implementation of all aspects of database disaster recovery.
What skills you will use:
- Ideally, you have 2-5 years of Amazon Web Services experience.
- Proficiency in database administration, with experience maintaining 50+ highly available MySQL/Postgres clusters in AWS and on-premises.
- Expertise in SQL (complex queries and stored procedures).
- Expertise in data modeling and schema design.
- Strong Linux skills.
- Proficiency in the scripting language of your choice (shell, Perl, python, etc) and automation technologies (terraform, chef, docker, etc) for monitoring and custom automation.
- Extensive experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
