The Revenue Management and Analytics (RM&A) team supports clients across The Walt Disney Company, including Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (WDP&R), Disney Cruise Line, Media Networks (i.e. ABC, ESPN), Studio Entertainment and Disney Interactive Media in the core competencies of yield management, revenue planning, forecasting, pricing and optimization. Key partners to the RM&A organization include Marketing, Finance, Business Development, Research and Operations. Roles within RM&A develop, analyze, and execute strategies to maximize profitability and improve the value proposition for our Guests, Cast Members and Shareholders.
 
The Decision Science team within RM&A specializes in creating innovative scientific models and data-driven decision support tools to optimize business decisions. The team consists of experts across many disciplines, including Statistics, Econometrics, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, and Psychology.
  
Responsibilities 

  • Lead the research, design and innovation of decision science concepts and models and drive translation of that effort into actionable plans for implementations
  • Provide leadership to Decision Science and clients/partners in a broad range of analytics
  • Determine appropriate science methodologies and modeling approaches
  • Provide project and technical leadership support for Decision Science work streams and activities
  • Assess, design, and develop appropriate forecasting, simulation and optimization models to solve business problems across The Walt Disney Company
  • Identify revenue and profit opportunities through data analysis and research
  • Develop tools to measure effectiveness of revenue management and pricing practices
  • Provide science calibration support for decision science models
  • Identify and apply best practices in the field of applied science (statistics, operations research, etc.)
  • Act as science consultant to all business units within the Walt Disney Company

 
Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of equivalent industry experience applying advanced analytics
  • Demonstrated strong mathematical modeling skills
  • Working knowledge of one or more computer programming languages such as SAS, Visual Basic, C/C ++, Java
  • Ability to explain complex topics in simple terms
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong partnering and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn new business problems, science, software applications and tools
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

 
Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in revenue management and/or pricing
  • Experience with emerging big data analytics, such as machine learning

 
Required Education 

  • Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent

 
Preferred Education 

  • Ph.D. in Operations Research or equivalent
