Manager, Experience Insights Data Services

The Experience Insights team seeks to enhance Guest vacation experiences through data science, data integration, statistical modeling/analysis, and delivery of innovative services. Through close partnership with other analytical groups throughout Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, the Experience Insights team also serves to get our organization to view the Guest experience and our business in exciting new ways.
The Manager, Experience Insights Data Services will be responsible for the overall data strategy of the Experience Insights and Analytics team, working closely with key partners to propose and maintain data architecture, integrate disparate data sources, and oversee governance of the data. In addition, the Data Services team will be responsible for prototype development of pilot applications and systems that advance the Guest experience.
Responsibilities
Your Role:
- Develop and manage standard data governance procedures and standards.
- Ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, complete and timely to support the team’s objectives
- Collaborates regularly with internal teams and key partners in Technology on complex topics related to use of Guest data, integration and data structures.
- Responsible for data modeling and design/development of applications using big data to enhance the Guest experience.
- Indirect leadership and training of internal and external analytical resources regarding data structure, efficient coding and best ways to access data
- Collaborate with data directors across the Walt Disney Company to ensure enterprise-wide governance and to integrate data strategies across segments
Basic Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a similar field.
- 7+ years' experience in data management or related field
- Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data environments
- Experience with big data solutions, including the latest approaches to integrate streaming and historical data
- Experience in operationalizing data governance procedures
- Experience developing business cases for technical projects/applications
- Strong influence of internal team and partners to ensure the most effective and efficient approach to data management
- Advanced SQL skills used in conjunction with large relational databases, such as Oracle and Teradata
- Demonstrated proficiency with computing and programming using SAS, R, Java, Python, Spark, or similar data science language
- Strong collaboration skills
- Strong written and verbal skills
Preferred Qualifications
How To Stand Out:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a similar field
- Broad knowledge of The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts
- Familiarity with current Walt Disney Parks and Resorts data environment
- Experience with rapid development of prototype applications
