Due to exciting growth, we have an immediate need for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team on a cutting edge technology project.  As an integral member of this team, the Senior Data Scientist will work collaboratively with various functions to understand the problem, design and build statistical models and ultimately provide meaningful and actionable outputs.  This position will provide guidance to and mentor other data scientist team members. This position utilizes extensive knowledge of R, Base SAS, Tableau and other statistical programs/tools to drive a modeling initiative with innovation and provide results and recommendations to management using non-statistical language. Responsibilities

  • Execute Data Analytics - Create/enhance analytical procedures, create data dissemination mechanisms/procedures which summarize data in an easy to understand display, perform risk analysis, respond to complex data requests that require data mining, extraction and query optimization services.
  • The ability to design, build, and validate statistical models and segmentation systems that will deliver tangible and significant business value using transactional data from multi-threaded databases, and prepare for feeding into models and systems. Accurately executing the analytical methodology for development and/or analysis. Exploratory data analysis, time series forecasting, regression, clustering, decision trees, correlations, chi square, cross-tabs, CHAID, outlier detection, etc.
  • Advanced Analytics - perform customer/product/market analytics, segmentation, churn, customer lifetime value, propensity, channel costs, RFMB, market-basket and price elasticity analysis, campaign response analysis, a/b testing, etc.
  • Provide Analytic Tools Expertise and Assistance - Advise, investigate and recommend new analytic technologies and advanced visualizations. Conduct performance tuning on data analytic packages.
  • Meet with internal clients to clearly define the problem, understand the factors they believe are significant, propose how to structure the problem and agree on timelines for delivery.
  • Ensure clients are aware of the output format and few potential outcomes of the modeling exercise at the early design phase of the exercise.
  • Utilize database knowledge, programming skills and data manipulation/query tools to produce actionable analytic reports and ad hoc analysis to meet client needs.
  • Identify potential enhancements and/or process improvements for modeling and enhance current analytic methodology.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or related degree required; Ph.D. preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on data analytics experience
  • Analytic platform expertise, such as R, SAS, SPSS,  RapidMiner, and data modeling to deliver business solutions is required
  • Database skills and understanding are required, preferably in HP Vertica
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Knowledge of fundamental factor models such as macroeconomic factor models, cross-sectional fundamental factor models, time-series fundamental factor models, classification, regression, modeling, and forecasting is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
