Overview

Comunidad Realty Partners, a multifamily real estate investment company based in San Diego, CA is in search of a Senior Data Scientist that will be responsible for collecting, structuring and transforming data that can be utilized to empirically develop actionable insights supporting real estate investment decision-making and strategy development. The role will require a keen understanding of current and evolving data technologies, experience preferred with programming languages (R, Python, SQL), business fundamentals and key quantitative disciplines, including statistical analysis and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on visualizations and various reporting tools that can help satisfy analytical needs, convey a story, and provide simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Define and scope related project tasks, goals and deliverables with proper timelines and schedule. 
  • Collect, validate, and analyze data. Prepare reports, and visualizations such as graphs, charts and dashboards to create data stories that can enable actionable insights. 
  • Help define metrics/KPIs for enhanced workflows and build automated solutions that interconnect the data, applications, and people
  • Build analytical data lake, warehouses, and marts and build/maintain the underlying data platforms and ETL processes
  • Create ad-hoc or routine queries and reports. Understand business reporting requirements, and assist with the design and development requirements for reports.
  • Performs other duties as reasonably requested.

Qualitative Skills

  • Able to translate strategic business requirements into specific detailed technical requirements and tasks.
  • Able to project manage, prioritize activities, and diligently adhere to project deadlines
  • Strong communication / organization skills, research capabilities, and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to tell a story with data – What does the analysis tell you? What do you think the business should do next? Why do you think what is happening, is happening? Ability to influence others with the story of what you’re seeing in the data to make business recommendations
  • Fanatical attention to detail and is process-oriented, methodical, and systematic.
  • Experience in an investment management or real estate organization is strongly preferred.

Quantitative Skills

  • Must have knowledge of industry best practices in information/data management techniques and platforms (Data Warehousing Design, ETL Process, Data Modeling).
  • Experience in IT controls and data governance practices desired.
  • One (1) to Three (3) years of business application experience or Information Technology and familiarity with current business analysis principles and practices; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience.
  • Proficiency with a statistical analysis tool such as R and/or Python
  • Machine Learning experience strongly desired

Education

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Econometrics or related field. 

Preferred Education

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics or related field
