Compete is recruiting an outstanding individual to join its expanding Advanced Analytics team as a core member, our Director of Advanced Analytics.

The Director of Advanced Analytics will join as a key member of the Compete team that is currently dedicated to the development and applications of the state-of-the-art methodologies and innovative research tools. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that analytic projects are implemented and utilized to drive client’s business objectives. This position requires strategic and tactical thinking with a delicate eye for numbers, an intellectual curiosity, a proficiency at problem solving, and an in-depth understanding of media ecosystem and technologies. The candidate must have a proven track record in data-rich analyses, media and marketing modeling, be a team player and extremely responsive in a client service environment.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identification, assessment, and managing implementation of data sources, tracking solutions and technologies relevant to client’s business
  • Design and management of measurement systems for data capture and reporting
  • Use of analysis to identify the key touch points/factors that drive consumer decision-making behavior and make recommendations that will drive media strategy, creative and site optimization
  • Use of advanced quantitative analysis and other data mining techniques to create the core products and solutions as pertaining to multi-platform consumer behaviors
  • Inform, drive implementation and utilize a multi-touchpoint path-to-purchase and attribution models 
  • Constantly engage knowledge of advertising and digital media to deliver client-specific analyses including: marketing and media mix modeling, campaign performance projections and analysis, customer segmentation and profiling, retention analysis, lifetime value analysis, and competitive market research
  • Identify key measures, approach and methodologies to track digital marketing campaign success against clients’ business objectives – develop advertising test design including hypothesis development, cell design and sample size calculation
  • Build a body of knowledge on media, technology and strategy performance with the objective of informing future media decisions on schedules, budgets, partners and strategies
  • Act as primary day-to-day contact on measurement system project development and execution; facilitate communication and define roles and responsibilities amongst all parties including internal, client, and third party

Qualifications include:

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity about new and emerging media including digital display, SEM, broadband video, mobile, gaming consoles, Smart TV, etc.
  • A Graduate Degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Math, Econ, or Marketing with prior demonstrated success in a quantitative field
  • A deep understanding of the fundamentals of media planning, marketing and consumer behavior
  • Familiarity with leading third party ad effectiveness providers such as Compete, Dynamic Logic, Insight Express, comScore, Nielsen Online, etc.
  • Familiarity with audience measurement tools such as Compete, Comscore and Nielsen
  • Knowledge of survey research methods, sampling methods, weighting, and methods of correcting for sample biases.
  • Experience with large data sets and background in database analytics (SQL and or related database languages).
  • Background in univariate and multivariate data analysis techniques; expertise in either SAS, SPSS or R. Experience with OLAP and data mining techniques.
  • Experience with advanced Excel, through to complex functions and VBA 
  • Experience with data presentation (BI) tools such as Tableau, Venngage, and Visual.ly 
  • An ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to a general business audience 
  • Experience in delivering presentations 
  • Excellent project management skills; experience with online project management tools a plus.
