What part will you play?

The Audience Acquisition Analyst will report to the Manager of Audience Acquisition on the Audience Development & Analytics team at CNN Digital. This role is primarily responsible for tracking and optimizing content across different touch-points including, but not limited to, SEO, Social, Newsletters, partnerships, and paid distribution networks.

What will you be doing?  

  • The Audience Acquisition Analyst will have a detailed understanding of online audience behaviors with the goal to increase audience size, engagement and CNN Digital revenues.
  • The analyst should be able to balance business and editorial objectives by testing and optimizing editorial content in real-time. 
  • He/She should have a passion for data and be able to analyze content performance and audience behavior. 
  • He/She will measure and report performance of CNN's audience touch-points, and assess against goals and key metrics to help optimize our content distribution strategy and reach our target audience.

What do we need from you?

  • Bachelor in Science degree (STEM), Marketing, Journalism or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience; Digital Media, Content Marketing or Agency experience is highly desired. 
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience optimizing and analyzing online media 
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred - Experience with or knowledge of SEO, Social, and other digital data tools like Sprinklr, BrightEdge, Chartbeat, Comscore, Visualr and MailChimp preferred 
  • Solid knowledge of general website and analytics tools (Omniture preferred) 
  • Analyzing traffic patterns to CNN stories in order to surface non-obvious insights about how/why stories gain audience and early discover potentially trending content 
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying and tracking target audiences and devising and optimizing digital campaigns 
  • DMP experience for audience segmentation desired, preferably Krux 
  • Experience performing and optimizing paid traffic campaigns on search, social, and other websites 
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking 
  • The ability to perform with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrate creativity and problem-solving skills and communicate complex messages to diverse audiences 
  • Ongoing tracking reports and analysis to evaluate campaign effectiveness 
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO, social, and online media
