Position Summary:

The Director of Digital Analytics will be responsible for setting the audience data and analytics strategy to better align our digital audience behavior with business action. Starting with audience at the center and overlaying brand and business needs, this role will help create a digital data and analytics transformation roadmap.  They will put the building blocks in place to connect and organize disparate digital data sets that live across the data ecosystem in alignment with growth strategy that will ultimately help APMG grow audiences and revenue.  Reducing internal barriers, using creative problem solving and bringing in new inspiring ways to make data visual, accessible and connected will be critical for success.  APMG is on a digital transformation journey and this role will uniquely chart the course to enable data democratization, data connection and elevated analysis that will drive audience informed decisions.

This role will support the enterprise, working with many cross-functional teams including senior executives, brand leaders, marketing, fundraising, content/media, IT, and digital product development.  A fundamental skill that will be crucial for success will be the ability to translate between tech and application. Identifying needs proactively and modernizing APMG’s digital analytic capabilities and creating best practices to improve organizational knowledge, audience driven recommendations and business outcomes at the macro and brand level.

Director of Digital Analytics will be managing a team of digital analytics professionals. Delegating and coaching that aligns with overall digital analytics and audience insights priorities. Helping to develop team’s ability to connect data to insights that drive audience growth. Overseeing digital data stewardship, reporting and strategic analysis will be another key accountability.

Location: St. Paul, MN

Expected Salary Range:$110k - $140k. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Co-create a digital data transformation strategy, staged out with timing, needs and investment and socialization plan.
  • Drive and maintain close positive partnership and productive relationships with leadership and provide support for cross functional teams org wide.
  • Lead and support business case development and Digital strategy to ensure consistent and value add partnership with business and Digital stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement supporting technological strategy in a broad range of application areas
  • Creatively connect business case and application with tech and CRM solutions
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to bring industry/market trends and technology to the broader community and provide on-going consultation as necessary.
  • Lead efforts to identify new analytic approaches, data connection opportunities and modern data and analytic capabilities and create best practices.
  • Apply strong storytelling and visualization skills to deliver clear and concise insights driven analysis for maximum impact on priority initiatives for senior leaders.
  • Provide necessary training and up-skilling for digital data and analytics approaches and data.
  • Serve as the owner and steward of digital data and associated vendor partnerships and contracts.
  • Provide on-going prioritization of all analytic initiatives and projects, to ensure team is working on the highest priorities.
  • Manage team through coaching, mentorship, performance cycle, and on-going feedback
  • Occasionally, query and mine complex data sets to inspire audience led decision making, through clear translation of results from analysis and providing simple narratives and recommendations.
  • Deliver appropriate insight driven dashboards, reports, tracking, presentations and working sessions meeting business team priorities.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Marketing, Statistical Analysis, Economics, Data Science or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in data/statistical analysis working with digital/web data sources 
  • Experience using digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Triton, Podtrac, Chartable, Tableau) to answer business questions
  • Experience with complex data infrastructures, data warehouse, APIs, digital connection tools like Snowflake
  • Management and team leadership experience

  • Experience in change management and socializing roadmaps, strategies and plans
  • Advanced influence and impact skills, demonstrating ability to negotiating and build alignment in a changing environment
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding how digital audience data can impact business decisions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to logic-check, see patterns and stories in information AND demonstrate clear translation into insights
  • Sharp and influential communication and presentation abilities with all levels of the org, deftly adjusting style and story to connect with audience
  • Analytics translations, demonstrating the ability to decipher business needs and connect it to analytical solutions
  • Ability to prioritize projects based on experience and organizational needs; demonstrated time-management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and quick turn-arounds.
  • Self-directed interest in seeking opportunities for improving capabilities, methods and progressing insights application
  • Passion for discovering new things and ability to learn quickly
  • Experience leading through others with the ability to motivate staff and develop high performing teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments/divisions and with top management.

 Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Analytics or related fields
  • Familiarity with UX best practices and research
  • Tag management knowledge
  • Database management
  • Professional experience with Media preferred
  • Experience with advanced modeling tools like R, Python etc.

 Reporting to this Position:

  • Digital Manager and 2 Digital Analysts

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
