Job Description

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, is seeking a data analyst to process, manage, and interpret data to produce actionable insights to inform AAP member recruitment and retention decision-making and strategies. This position will perform data collection and data cleaning/mining and create analytical datasets, descriptive data summaries, reports, and visualizations. In addition, this role will provide support for analytic products and be responsible for documentation and standard operating procedures relating to AAP data management. As part of the Member Operations and Data Services team, this role will work onsite at our Itasca, IL headquarters. 

Some tasks include:
1. Work with department leadership and staff to frame business problems, perform data analysis, generate insights, and make recommendations to facilitate decision-making on AAP member recruitment and retention strategies.
2. Collaborate with staff to analyze member marketing campaigns, perform quantitative and qualitative market analysis, identify key market indicators and interpret findings, and establish dashboards to evaluate efficacy and opportunities for outreach. 
3. Develop reports, dashboards, graphs, infographics, and other visualizations related to AAP membership recruitment, engagement, and retention.
4. Collaborate with staff to develop data analyses and insights on chapter and district membership recruitment and retention. 
5. Lead Data Management Workgroup to implement, support, and maintain AAP data management standards and processes.
6. Work closely with IT staff and other internal/external service providers to collaborate on data and analytics infrastructure for delivering on analysis needs.
7. Conduct data mining to extract and interpret raw data to derive valuable insights for the stakeholders.
8. Track key performance metrics to improve business performance. 
9. Support ad-hoc reporting or data analysis needs as requested.

Qualifications needed:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.
2. At least two years’ related data analytics experience involving analyzing large volumes of data to derive actionable insights and recommendations required, including experience in predictive, quantitative, and qualitative analytics. Some experience analyzing membership data preferred. Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, and transforming techniques required.    Experience in a medical association or other not-for-profit organization preferred. 
3. Excellent quantitative, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, take initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, work both independently and as part of a team, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, relational databases, and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with business intelligence applications (eg, Power BI, Tableau), SQL, CRM (eg, netForum), and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred. Some evening/weekend work and travel required.
