AWS Database Services is currently looking for a talented Oracle database administrator with 7+ years of experience for its Seattle and Herndon offices. The DBA will perform administration and engineering for multiple production databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fast-paced complex distributed database environments supporting primarily OLTP on a UNIX/Linux platform. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure.
- Test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization improvements in consultation with AWS development Teams
- Maintain development and production environments
- Monitor and maintain database security and database software
- Database & Application( SQL & PL/SQL ) performance tuning
- Backup and recovery (RMAN and traditional)
- Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
- On-call for production databases - daily maintenance, monitoring, problem resolution and internal customer and dev support
- Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years Database Administration experience with administering and supporting multiple Oracle databases for performance critical, highly available systems on UNIX/Linux platform
- Minimum of seven years data modeling experience with conducting performance tuning, backup/recovery, and scalability/capacity planning, in addition to SQL, PL/SQL, and UNIX shell scripting
- Minimum of five years troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
- Willingness to provide 24/7 operational support
This position requires the applicant selected to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) eligibility and access. A US Government administered polygraph examination will be required. TS/SCI eligibility is not required to start; however, the applicant selected will be subject to a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified national security information. Applicants with a current SSBI, SBPR, or PPR, may be eligible for crossover in accordance with ICPG 704.4.
