Amazon is looking for an outstanding Data Scientist to be part of our HR Analytics team. As a member of the HR Analytics team, you will get the opportunity to be part of leading-edge research and analysis to answer some of the most interesting questions about Amazon’s workforce. You will work closely with the business and technical teams to perform compelling analysis that delivers actionable results. You will also build predictive workforce models that have a direct impact on day-to-day decision-making and our HR investments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently analyze human resources data in order to identify significant differences, relationships and trends
  • Develop predictive workforce models for attrition, high performance and recruiting demand
  • Visualize results of statistical analyses in the form of graphs, charts, tables and scorecards
  • Participate in development and expansion of HR Data Mart and Recruiting Analytics programs through design of reporting catalog
  • Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
  • Provide expert level consulting to HR and business leaders to develop appropriate reports, metrics and research
  • Summarize written findings, publicize results and engage with senior leadership as appropriate

Basic Qualifications

  • M.S. in a relevant technical field, or B.S. in a relevant field and 4+ years experience
  • Extensive experience solving analytical problems using statistical approaches
  • Comfort with developing predictive models
  • Background in relational databases and SQL, data transformation (ETL), data mining, ad-hoc analysis and metrics presentations
  • Robust sense of accountability: sound personal judgment, capacity to handle confidential information appropriately, effectively escalate issues
  • Impeccable customer service focus with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations; a team player with a solid work ethic
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail; you are able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing the ability to dive deep
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert with R, Stata, SAS or other statistical language
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau highly valued
  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and reporting fundamentals
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other HRMS systems a plus
